MASTER'S ABILITY TEST
FOREIGN CITIZENS/ROMANIANS FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD
Admission is organized for full-time education, by fields of study:
Theater and Performing Arts, respectively Cinematography and Media, in accredited study programs. Foreign citizens can register for the admission competition/aptitude test after graduating from the preparatory year of Romanian language, organized according to the regulations in force.
The following categories of persons are exempt from the obligation to present the certificate of graduation from the preparatory year:
- who present Romanian study documents (diplomas and certificates) or study documents, situations
school certificates certifying at least 4 years of consecutive studies followed, in Romanian, in an educational unit from the national system in Romania; - who, in order to enroll in university education, present certificates or attestations of
language proficiency at minimum level B1, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages
for foreign languages, issued by accredited higher education institutions in Romania that organize the preparatory year of Romanian language for foreign citizens, by the lecturers of Romanian language, literature, culture and civilization in universities abroad/the Romanian Language Institute or the Romanian Cultural Institute.
The admission of Romanians from all over the world is carried out based on methodologies specially developed by the Ministry of Education. In case the candidates to the competition hold dual citizenship, in order to participate in the admission, they will opt, upon registration and will submit the file with documents based on a single citizenship. This option cannot be changed during the admission competition.

MASTERS
AUDIO-VISUAL ARCHIVES PRESERVATION AND CURATORSHIP
Full-time courses – 2 years (4 semesters, 120 credits, MASTER'S)
ABILITY TEST FOR FOREIGN CITIZENS
REGISTRATION CONDITIONS:
- Candidates must have graduated from a specialization with 240 credits or 180 credits
- A text of maximum 10 pages describing the candidate's relationship to an audio-visual archive, with which he/she has worked directly or to which he/she has been exposed through a fictional or documentary work, an exhibition, etc.
Optional: any other materials relevant to the field of specialization (films, essays, videos, scripts, reviews, academic texts, etc.)
Complete portfolios are submitted after registration in electronic format. The candidate must ensure that all required elements are in the portfolio and can be accessed, otherwise he/she will not be admitted to the exam.

REGISTRATION CONDITIONS
- Candidates who have graduated from specialized faculties are accepted.
- Candidates must have completed either a 240-credit specialization or a 180-credit specialization.
- Candidates must have made, as a cinematographer, at least one short fiction film in color or black and white.
- Upon registration, candidates will submit a portfolio containing their artistic projects (digital copies of films in various standards or other relevant projects).

Test 1 – written
Cinematographic culture test, based on the aesthetics of the means of plastic expression, specific to the language of the film image.
- Candidates will prepare a written paper on a topic indicated by the committee.
Test 2 – practical/oral
- Presentation in projection of a film in digital copy, shot natively on 35mm/16mm film or digitally, in minimum Super-35/2K format, in standard copy, with edited, colorized and calibrated image, mixed sound, credits, which has the image made by the candidate. (practical)
- Presentation of the means of plastic expression of the film viewed in the projection. (oral administration)
CLAIMS:

Cinematographic culture test based on the competition bibliography.
The test aims to:
- Testing the ability to produce a written synthesis of the theoretical material on the topic received.
- Testing the ability to provide concrete, expressive and consistent examples from universal filmography on the given topic.
The grade obtained in Stage I is represented by the arithmetic average of the grades obtained in Test 1 and Test 2.
STAGE II-A (tests are scored from 1 to 10)
Sample 3 – practically
Editing test on a given raw in a nonlinear editing software: Avid Media Composer, DaVinci Resolve or Adobe Premiere Pro.
- Testing the ability to conceptualize and produce an audiovisual product within a set period of 3 hours based on the committee's requirements.
- Testing the level of knowledge of operating principles in a project.
- Testing the ability to dialogue with the committee on the finished product and based on intent.
UNATC provides candidates with workstations equipped with nonlinear editing software (Avid Media Composer, DaVinci Resolve or Adobe Premiere Pro) and the raw material that they will edit during the test.
If candidates are not familiar with any of the above-mentioned software, they may choose to use another nonlinear editing software, provided that it is installed on their own laptop, which will be used during the test. Candidates may use their own laptop under any condition, only the above-mentioned condition being mandatory.
The final grade of the admission exam is the arithmetic average between the grade obtained in Stage I (result of the arithmetic average between the grades of the 2 tests of the stage) and the grade obtained in Stage II, respectively the 3rd test.
The division in case of equal averages is made according to the grades obtained in Test 3 (Editing test on a given rough, in a nonlinear editing software), respectively Test 1 (Interview / colloquium on the candidate's portfolio) and Test 2 (Cinema culture test based on the competition bibliography).

THE ART OF FILM DIRECTING

TO APPLY, CANDIDATES WHO HAVE GRADUATES FROM A BACHELOR'S DEGREE PROGRAM MUST SUBMIT A PORTFOLIO THAT CONTAINS:
- A film project, proposal for a short fiction film (maximum 15 minutes) to be made in the 1st year of studies, containing:
- Argument – 2-3 pages (A4, font size 12, 1,5 lines)
- Synopsis – maximum one page (A4, font size 12, 1,5 lines)
- Screenplay* – max 15 pages (written in Final Draft screenplay format)
- Directorial concept – 3-5 pages (A4, font size 12, 1,5 lines)
- Cutaway for the entire film accompanied by storyboard for at least two important sequences
- Cast – proposal (photos, minimum two proposals / role)
- Decor – proposal (sketches or location photos)
- Costume – proposal (costume sketches or collages)
- References (photos, or other materials that provide clues about the atmosphere or style of the future film)
- CV – filmography, awards, festivals;
- Un fiction film, short film, which will become the subject of the competition in round 1.
* In the admission exam, the committee does not score the script, but only the other elements related to the director's work: the argument, the director's concept, the editing, the distribution proposal, etc. It is not mandatory for a candidate to also be the author of the script, but it is mandatory that the proposed script has not been produced.

REGISTRATION CONDITIONS
College graduates with a bachelor's degree are accepted into the competition.
Candidates must have graduated from a specialization with 180 credits or 240 credits.
The candidate will submit a CV, motivation, an portfolio uni a script draft which he/she wishes to develop during the study program. All these texts (CV, motivation, portfolio, script draft) must be written in Romanian, with diacritics, on A4 format pages. Texts that do not meet this condition will not be taken into account.

- portfolio is made up of the most successful original texts written by the candidate and should contain between minimum 30 of pages and Maximum 100 of pages. The texts can be scripts, stories, plays, sketches, short stories, novels, memoirs or any other written projects that the candidate considers relevant, in full or in the form of fragments. If fragments of a larger text are presented, this must be specified immediately under the title. Texts written exclusively by the candidate are preferred, and if the candidate nevertheless wishes to submit texts written in collaboration with someone else, this must be explicitly stated, immediately under the title. Adaptations of texts written by other authors are not accepted. Scripts must be accompanied by a synopsis and a motivation by the author of a maximum of one page. Scripts must be written in the standard known format, and all other texts will be edited with the Times New Roman font of 12 points and spaced at 1,5 lines on A4 pages. All texts in the portfolio will be grouped in the same pdf file. The portfolio will have a cover page with the candidate's first and last name and a table of contents page with the titles of the texts in the portfolio and the page number where they can be found. ANIMATED FILM
Full-time courses – 2 years (4 semesters, 120 credits, MASTER'S)
TO APPLY, CANDIDATES MUST SUBMIT A PERSONAL PORTFOLIO ONLINE IN ELECTRONIC FORMAT
The portfolio must contain:
- A picture of the candidate (portrait type CI, JPG format) named according to the model: NAME_SURNAME.jpg (example: FLORINA_ANDREESCU.jpg)
- CV EUROPASS with photo, in PDF format according to: https://europa.eu/europass
- 15-25 images:
- mandatory: character design, set design, studies, sketches, illustration (maximum 2 works of type fan art).
- optional: painting, sculpture, collage, photography
- Images can be made in any technique (digital, traditional, mixed).
- The presentation format is JPG (maximum 1MB/image).
The images will be named according to the model: ##_NAME_SURNAME_title
(example: 12_FLORINA_ANDREESCU_sketch.jpg)
- 1-2 films/film fragments/exercises/tests (total duration: maximum 15 minutes). Any type of animation is accepted (classic animation, stop motion, 3D CGI, visuals, TV graphics, etc.).
Format MP4, HDThe materials will be viewed on a computer (PC/MAC).
Films can be standalone or just a fragment. - AUTEUR FILM PROJECT FILE – duration: 3 MINUTES, free technique, on a topic of the candidate's choice.
The file must contain:
- Arguments for the technique/techniques of animation and image creation (maximum 1 A4 page).
- Technical data – screen format, color concept, estimated duration (maximum 1 A4 page).
- Scenario (3 A4 pages, font size 12, 1 line – 1 minute per page); in the case of a screen adaptation, adaptation, parody, the literary, visual, musical, and cinematic sources will also be attached.
- Storyboard with annotations (written and drawn, maximum 10 A4 pages, portrait orientation, 4 frames per page, annotation column on the right).
- Sketches for the characters (face/profile and expressions) and the main decorations (maximum 5 A4 pages).
- Walking cycle main character – test/sketch – MP4 format looped 5 times or Animated GIF
- Production Pipeline – work step diagram, necessary hardware and software
Complete portfolios are handed in after registrationOnly in electronic formatThe candidate must ensure that all required elements are found in the portfolio and can be accessed, otherwise he/she cannot be admitted to the exam.
The institution will make it available to the candidate, but only after registration on the Edubits platform, a folder on a secure platform where he can upload the requested documents, a folder to which only the institution and the candidate have access. Access to the platform will be communicated on the email address used upon registration.
SINGLE STAGE (tests are scored from 1 to 10)
Test 1 – Skills test (practice)
- storyboard after a text at first glance (the text proposed by the committee)
- animation, inbetweens
Test 2 – Interview (oral)
The committee will discuss each candidate based on:
- submitted portfolio
- practical work done in exam 1
In case of equal averages, the candidates will be tied by taking into account the grade obtained in test 1.
