The Documentary Film Master's degree program aims to prepare professionals who use their creative potential to make powerful films about reality, developing their own voice and vision.
Starting from the assumed objective of the program, which is to combine theory with practice, the courses are designed to develop documentary film directing and production skills at a professional level.
The contemporary author creates in a very dynamic technological industry, and the aesthetics of documentary film reflect these changes. The Master's Program in Documentary Film encourages stylistic diversity, from observational documentary to archive-based, musical documentary, hybrid or one that uses animation and new technologies.
During the two years of study, students will work with specialized teaching staff and recognized professionals in the field of documentary film in workshops that UNATC organizes periodically. Students are encouraged to get involved in international projects and collaborations to ensure the relevance of their training and the universality of the topics they will address.

Complete portfolios/CVs are submitted after registration, only in electronic format. The candidate must ensure that all required elements are in the portfolio and can be accessed, otherwise he/she will not be admitted to the exam.

A. Conditions
- candidates must have graduated from a specialization with 180 credits or 240 credits;
- candidates must have achieved, as a director, at least one short documentary film.
B. Upon registration, candidates will submit:
- a short documentary film achieved as a director (which will become the subject of the exam in test 1);
- a film project, proposal for a short documentary film (maximum 25 minutes) to be made in the 1st year of studies, containing:
- Argument
- Screenplay* or developed synopsis
- Directorial concept (2-3 pages)
- Cutout (only in cases where the film genre lends itself to it)
- List and photos of characters who will be interviewed
- List and photos of locations
- Filmed materials – (edited sequence, one or more protagonists, an interview, archive materials, etc.)
- Other documents relevant to the development of the project (e.g. character sheets, list of questions, topics addressed during interviews, etc.)
- CV candidate's name – filmography, awards, festivals.
* In the admission exam, the committee does not score the script, but only the other elements related to the director's work: the argument, the director's concept, the filmed materials, etc. It is not mandatory for a candidate to also be the author of the script, but it is mandatory that the proposed script has not been produced.
