The new bachelor's program offers theater students the opportunity to specialize in both fields – theater journalism and cultural management – at the same time. The 4-year study program adds an extensive applied and practical component to the theoretical training in theater and performing arts, to provide graduates with more skills.
The program trains specialists in the fields of theater and performing arts theory and aesthetics, journalism and production of cultural radio and TV programs, cultural management, show and event production, as well as the management of cultural institutions.
In the sense of this double training of an active theater scholar, the studies of History, Theory and Aesthetics of Theater, as well as the disciplines of Spectacology, Theory and Practice of the Press, and Cultural Project Management are complemented with new disciplines : Management of Cultural Institutions, Cultural Marketing and Audience Studies, Cultural Policies and Legislation, Advertising.
The journalistic component is developed in three directions - Online Journalism, Radio and TV Journalism, and Written Press - with specialization in each of the three media, the graduate acquiring skills for the professions of theater critic and performing arts, cultural journalist, and radio and TV show producer.
The curriculum offers students the opportunity to acquire and deepen their theatrical and cultural knowledge, in accordance with the standards of scientific research in the field of performing arts. It also includes disciplines such as Dramatic Text Analysis and Dramaturgy, which ensure the development of the skills of a specialized playwright and in the adaptation and processing of dramatic texts.
The Bachelor's degree program in Theatre (Theatre Journalism) - Theatre (Cultural Management) develops the ability to put theoretical knowledge into practice, both as an active member of the creative teams of theatrical performances, and as part of the organizational structure of a performance institution.
This type of interdisciplinary and complementary training allows our graduates to work in the country and abroad, in a multitude of professional spaces: public cultural institutions - theater, opera, museums, libraries; mass media - written press, online, radio, television; independent theater; book publishing houses; advertising companies; university and pre-university education.
Our graduates also work in government institutions (Ministry of Culture, Romanian Cultural Institute, Romanian cultural institutes abroad) or within non-governmental organizations in the cultural and educational field. The employability rate of graduates of this bachelor's program is over 80%.
Our students' specialized practice takes place:
- within UNATC, through collaboration with the other specializations of the Faculty of Theatre (Acting, Directing, Scenography, Puppets and Marionettes, Choreography) within research and creation workshops
- in partner theaters in Bucharest (Excelsior Theater, Odeon Theater, Nottara Theater, Bucharest National Opera, Comic Opera for Children, etc.)
- in editorial teams in the specialized written press (magazines Teatru azi, Scena.ro), radio, TV, online
- within well-known theatrical events such as the National Theater Festival, the International Shakespeare Craiova Festival, the HOP Gala, the International Radio Theater Festival, the International Theater Schools Festival, etc.
