The THEATROLOGY (Theatre Journalism) bachelor's degree program offers interdisciplinary training, combining theoretical and practical training. The study program prepares specialists in the fields of theater criticism and cultural journalism, respectively the theory and aesthetics of theater and performing arts, who also have the ability to put theoretical knowledge into practice, as an active member of the creative teams of theatrical performances, as well as in the organizational structure of a theater or any other type of performance institution.
In the sense of this double training of the active theater scholar, the studies of History, Theory and Aesthetics of Theater, as well as the disciplines of Spectacology and Theory and Practice of the Press are complemented with disciplines in the fields of artistic creation process management and cultural project management. The active theater scholar participates, as a member of the creative team of the theatrical performance, from the documentation phase to the production and critical reflection of the performance.
The curriculum offers students the opportunity to acquire and deepen theatrical and cultural knowledge, in accordance with the standards of scientific research in the field of performing arts.
It also includes disciplines such as Dramaturgy, Screenwriting, and Creative Writing, which provide the skills training of a playwright who specializes in adapting and processing dramatic text.
This type of training allows our graduates to work in the country and abroad, in a multitude of professional spaces: public cultural institutions - theater, opera, museums, libraries; mass media - written press, online, radio, television; independent theater; book publishing houses; advertising companies; university and pre-university education. Our graduates also work in government institutions (Ministry of Culture, Romanian Cultural Institute, Romanian cultural institutes abroad) or within non-governmental organizations in the cultural and educational field. The employability rate of graduates of this bachelor's program is over 80%.
Our students' specialized practice takes place:
- within UNATC, through collaboration with the other specializations of the Faculty of Theatre (Acting, Directing, Scenography, Puppets and Marionettes, Choreography) within research and creation workshops
- in partner theaters in Bucharest (Excelsior Theater, Odeon Theater, Nottara Theater, Bucharest National Opera, Comic Opera for Children, etc.)
- in editorial teams in the specialized written press (magazines Teatru azi, Scena.ro), radio, TV, online
- within well-known theatrical events such as the National Theater Festival, the International Shakespeare Craiova Festival, the HOP Gala, the International Radio Theater Festival, the International Theater Schools Festival, etc.

- the commentary on the theater performance or film watched in the exam;
- interview.
