The Master's Degree in Filmology of UNATC "IL Caragiale" is the only master's degree program in Romanian specialized in film & media studies.
The program aims to deepen the understanding of the latest trends in the study of film and contemporary visual media and is also an opportunity to complete professional training as a theorist, film critic, or film researcher.
The Master's degree provides the theoretical tools necessary for the analysis of film within its cinematic framework and beyond. By placing film in a rigorous historical perspective and within the horizon of its philosophical implications, the Master's degree cultivates the ability to navigate an increasingly complex media landscape.
Carrying out studies in a vocational education unit ensures a lively, dynamic and interdisciplinary setting, facilitating the creative interaction between scientific research and practice in the field, through platforms such as the Film Meniu magazine, the Library and the Film Archive.
The master's degree lasts 2 years (full-time) and concludes with the writing of a dissertation, based on original research in the field.
The courses and seminars approach film from a variety of theoretical and thematic perspectives, including: the aesthetics of film: "The Cinematic Canon. Debates and Revisions" (Andrei Gorzo), "Formal Analysis of Cinema" (Irina Trocan); its sociology: "Cinephilia in the Streaming Era" (Andrei Gorzo); its historical context: "Romanian Film in the Socialist Period" (Gabriela Filippi); its projections in a philosophical horizon: "Philosophy of Media" (Christian Ferencz-Flatz).

Complete portfolios/CVs are submitted after registration, only in electronic format. The candidate must ensure that all required elements are in the portfolio and can be accessed, otherwise he/she will not be admitted to the exam.
The University will make available to the candidate, but only after registering on the 2Edubits platform, a folder on a secure platform where he/she can upload the requested documents, a folder to which only the institution and the candidate have access. Access to the platform will be communicated to the email address used for registration.

A. College graduates with a bachelor's degree are accepted into the competition, without the need to graduate from a faculty with a focus on cinema studies.
- Candidates must have graduated from a specialization with 180 credits or 240 credits;
B. Upon registration, candidates will submit:
- un resume
- o letter of intent comprising a brief presentation of the research direction they will follow in the dissertation
- portfolio consisting of 3 works. These texts (writing samples) can be published or unpublished materials (e.g., yearbooks from college), which candidates consider relevant.
The CV, cover letter and portfolio will be submitted in electronic format (as PDF files). The three texts making up the portfolio will be grouped in the same PDF file.

CLAIMS:
- No appeals are allowed for oral/practical tests.
- The tests are scored on a scale of 1 to 10.
- The minimum admission average for places financed from the budget and for those with a fee cannot be less than 6,00 (six).
